Cursed with an intense version of empathy Alice runs from a wasted life to start a new one somewhere no one will know her; Hell, Michigan. Alice works at a hole-in-the-wall bar in the middle of nowhere mostly keeping to herself to avoid the overwhelming emotions of those around her. She allows her best friend to convince her into taking a few college classes without realizing it would drastically change her life forever. From her first day of class she was hooked on him; his scent, his eyes, the way he talked to her inside her head.

Throughout her struggles she learns about true love, true pain and the truth of her own heritage. Alice must quickly find out who she is because after all everyone else is out to find her. With Angels and Bounty Hunter’s in constant pursuit she finds protection within a group of Fallen Angels. These Fallen Angels vow to do anything to protect her; for it is their belief she will save their kind and all of mankind.

Finding Alice Alice Clark Series Book 1 edition by Andrea DiGiglio Betsy Head Russ Turner Religion Spirituality eBooks

What struck me initially was the perspective of this Christian fantasy - and make no bones about it, this IS all about our Heavenly Father and His mysterious ways.

This appears to be a new author. It has editing errors but is not terribly prolific. The most difficulty I encountered was trying to figure out who was speaking at times - as if a line return had been forgotten during ebook publication. Part of that, however, led to a dialogue rawness and speed of emotions that propelled the storyline, which in and of itself was raw and ripe with emotions, Faith questions and Faith answers in a rather roundabout way.

She's packed an enormous punch into this 3 book series and I truly loved it. Well done Andrea! I hope to see more of your work!

Finding Alice Alice Clark Series Book 1 edition by Andrea DiGiglio Betsy Head Russ Turner Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

At heart this is a story about finding yourself, both personally and romantically, and the first-person perspective definitely works in quickly bringing us into the main character's world. You feel that you're along for Alice's ride- getting to go through her journey, as she goes from being alone to these new and interesting people coming into her life, how she adapts and what they could mean for not only her present but what she might be in the future. I didn't see some of the character developments coming, which means the book is a page-turner because you want to know what's going to happen next. Her story also shows you that romance isn't perfect, which is refreshing to read. Alice definitely goes through a lot in her young lifetime, and this is only the first chapter in her story. A great kickoff right out of the gate.
I had high hopes for FINDING ALICE by Andrea DiGiglio. The description sounded very interesting, but it was disappointing at best. Alice has a truly sad history of being unwanted and passed around by the social system. When she's finally old enough, she runs away to take charge of her own life. She settles down, gets a job at a bar, and even finds a friend who talks her into taking a few college classes with her. At this point the novel was readable. Shortly after that, though, Alice discovers her true nature. This is totally bizarre. The characters in this novel were boring, and the plot was simple and unbelievable, even for a fantasy. I'm sorry I wasted my time reading it.
While I liked the ideas in this book, it fell short. There was not enough back story, and it feels like important pieces of information were missing. It reminds me of when my 14 year old son tries to tell a story and forgets that you don't know what's in his head. Either the author forgot to write it, or it was edited out for some reason. I spend a large portion reading the book and thinking "what?????" and clicking back looking for what I surely missed only to find no explanation. Glad this was a free book. I think this author has a lot of potential.
I really like Angel and Nephilim stories so I was excited to read this book. Alice is emotionless. Her narrative reads very cold and by the facts. She was abandoned as a baby. She has moved from foster home to foster home. The only times she has emotions is when she is overcome by others extreme emotions. She now lives in a town called Hell and works at a bar. This is a fast paced story. The writing is good. I was intrigued by Alice's story. 3 stars

Finding Alice
By Andrea Digiglio

This was a awesome book that I found in my TBR pile. I looked for it when I saw the cover for book 2. By the way it is a amazing cover for book 2. Alice ever felt like she belonged she was orphaned at a early age never knowing her birth parents. Moving from home to home. Alice moved to Hell and caught the scent of ocean air when she met Cole. From that meeting her life was thrown into another dimension that she didn't ever suspect. Se learns about her self and about her family. With the love of Cole she is able to stand up and ight or her right of birth. I am definitely looking forward to book 2. Andrea is an amazing and talented writer and we can expect big things from her. Thank you for taking me on this journey. Read this book in only one hour it was that good.
I really liked this book a lot. The first several pages had me in a bit of doubt, foster child, not wanted, hard luck story, tough girl teen... yeah, when I read I want entertainment and that wasn't adding up too well.... BUT THEN, fast forward and the main character is on her feet, older, and it's not the sob story I was afraid it was leading too.

The intro material explaining where "Alice" came from, her history, and how / why she is where she is in the now of the book, that was all there for a reason. When the story kicks into the Now time frame it gets really good and unfolds a cool (unusual!) paranormal aspect that thank goodness doesn't involve biting or hairy transformations. It's really different and it's really good though quite possibly could be not everyone's cup of tea, coffee, whatever.

For me though, it was refreshingly different and a memorably satisfying good read.
While Alice tries to “find herself” she is unaware that others are also searching for her as well - and they do not all have her welfare in mind. Confused by knowledge and abilities she knows others don’t have she is trying to sort out her future from a past wrought with abandonment and multiple failed foster homes. Meeting Cole shocks her into the realization that there are more people like her – until she finds out he isn’t really a person. Mysterious dreams, love for the first time, and conflicts with angels make her life confusing and perilous. I thought her rather quick acceptance of her father’s sudden entrance in her life seemed unrealistic for someone in her circumstances. I had no trouble accepting her view of God in the beginning of the book, and even later in the middle after so much more was explained. However, I found a heroine that saw God as a childish coward for letting something happen without realizing its consequences unbelievable. I really enjoyed this book right up until the end which suggested that God was the ultimate “bad guy”. This is so contrary to my beliefs that, sadly, I doubt I will continue to read any more of the series.
